Cerebral paralysis is a type of disorder that can involve the brain, affecting nervous system functions such as movement, learning, hearing, vision and thinking. There are many different types of cerebral paralysis, including spastic, dyskinetic, ataxic, hypotonic and mixed

Cerebral paralysis is caused by lesions or abnormalities of the brain. Most of these problems occur as the baby grows in the womb. However, it can occur at any time during the first two years of life, while the baby’s brain is still developing

In some people with cerebral paralysis, parts of the brain are damaged due to low oxygen

Premature infants have a slightly higher risk of cerebral paralysis. Cerebral paralysis can also occur during early childhood as a result of a variety of conditions including:

  • Bleeding n the brain
  • Brain infections
  • Head trauma
  • Infection in the mother during pregnancy
  • Untreated jaundice
  • Injury to the brain during the birth process

In some cases cerebral paralysis is never determined
